My Personal Journey

They say that we teach what we need to learn. So it is not surprising that I have been drawn to helping women (and men) learn to love and accept themselves by making peace with food and their bodies. It has been my own path.

From adolescent through my 30’s, I was either on a diet or bingeing. 30 pounds up; 30 pounds down. The turning point in overcoming the diet-binge yo-yo was when I discovered the non-diet approach and realized that the problem was not food or my body. They were the symptom, not the real problem. My binge eating and my excess weight had been the best ways I had been able to find to manage the emotions that I hadn’t known how to feel, express or soothe. Without the shame and self-judgment that had propelled all the diets – and the binges that naturally followed, it was easier to learn to listen to my body for what it really needed and take care of it. And after years of yo-yo dieting, my weight stabilized at its natural weight.

“Making Peace with Food & Your Body” is my version of the non-diet approach that I have learned through my own healing and working with the thousands of clients and workshop participants I have been honored to work with and learn from over the years.
